6 Evil Weevils

Not really all that evil, more of a godsend I think. Jeremy Davies developed the Evil Weevil back in the 90’s and it has spawned many variations. Take a look at the fly bins in any of the Calgary fly shops and you will see the success it has achieved. The goose biots give the fly a distinct silhouette in the water and it is a proven killer when used on a hopper dropper set-up.

The SBS was created by Rob O’Reilly and while he has made a few modifications over the original, it is still just as effective. Jeremy has really become a master of tying these flies, and if you get a chance to watch him tie one, do so. He can bang them off in under 2 minutes, it’s no wonder he is able to tie over 30,000 flies a year.

On the sixth day of Christmas my Ghillie tied for me

5 Gold Ribbed Hare’s Ear Nymphs
4 Baby Buggers
3 PEI Flies,
2 Blae and Black
And a soft hackle Partridge and Orange
